Referendum on Compton NDP

Referendum

The referendum on the Compton Neighbourhood Plan, also known as the Compton Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP), will be held on 10 February 2022. The question that will be asked at the referendum is:

Do you want West Berkshire District Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Compton to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

The referendum will be conducted in accordance with procedures similar to those used at local government elections.

For this referendum you will need to attend the Polling Station where you will receive a ballot paper which will ask you to vote 'yes' or 'no' to the question.  If more than 50% of individuals vote 'yes' in the referendum, then West Berkshire District Council will 'make' the Compton NDP. If the Neighbourhood is 'made' it will help determine planning applications in the Compton Neighbourhood Area. It will also form part of the statutory development plan for West Berkshire. For further information on who is entitled to vote and how to vote see the Information Statement below.

In accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning (Referendum) Regulations 2012 (as amended), West Berkshire Council has published an  Information Statement [5Mb] which sets out information relating to the referendum and also the following specified documents:

This information can also be found on the Compton Neighbourhood Plan page on the West Berkshire Council website.

The Compton Neighbourhood Development plan can be viewed online. However, Compton Parish Council currently possesses some hard copies of this document that can be provided on loan to members of the parish who are unable to view the documentation online.
